Biches is a family-owned music festival located in the middle of Normandy, France. Small yet mighty, Biches line-up represents french new-scene bands right before they get too big. For its 4th edition, Biches needed a fresh new identity. The aesthetics I looked for was somewhere between rough & punky, while trying not to loose the pop and the fun. The challenge was to speak to a large audience: from parisians in their thirties, to curious families from Normandy or hitch-hiking teenagers coming from all over the country...
We tried to put the familiar and crafty feeling that makes this festival so special into every piece of on & offline communication. This was achieved with custom handmade typography and friendly copywriting... I started to experiment from this idea and come up with a type style I would use every time. And it worked great! The first thing they released was a simple manifest written in that type and it reached thousands of people very quickly. Nicolas Camus – from excellent garage band Cannibale – drew us a beautiful deer (biche) that we used as an avatar for this edition.
